The Day Has (Finally) Arrived

Good morning.

It is 8:29 AM. Despite waking up over an hour ago, I still haven't managed to get myself out of bed. My two suitcases are deterring me from doing so. Both sit on the floor, a bit of a mess and not nearly ready for the journey. I dislike packing.

I still have time. My flight isn't until late tonight: Air France flight 0321 from Boston Logan to Paris Charles de Gaulle, departing at 10:55 PM. I'll then have five hours in the Parisian airport to brush up on my French and (attempt to) finish those books assigned to me earlier this summer before my flight to Bamako, Mali, where I will be for the next four months or so.

My feelings right now? No, not nervous. There would be too many things to be nervous about that it doesn't seem worth it. Anxious, yes, and above all curious to see how I will be living for the next semester. I'm just relieved that I leave today as the anticipation and preparations are becoming a hassle and really beginning to wear me out.

I'm unsure of how limited my internet access will be while there, but I'm going to try and keep this blog running throughout the semester with posts around once a week filled with stories and updates about my life in Mali.

Now back to those suitcases.
